| St Hilary's church is situated on the eastern
side of Llanrhos in a beautiful country setting. Although
the smallest church in the parish, it is actually the oldest;
the Nave and Chancel walls were almost certainly built by
monks from the monastery at Maenan, further up the Conwy valley.
This new church replaced an earlier building in about 1282.
One of the church's Fonts dates from the Norman period, the
Lych gate probably dates from the eighteenth century. Behind
the church is Llanrhos schoolroom. This was founded in 1822
by a Miss Francis Mostyn to educate forty boys and girls from
poor families in the parish. Today, it is now used as the
Church Hall, a Sunday school is held here for youngsters on
Sunday mornings during term-time. If you like a small country
church then this is the place; it is very popular for weddings.
