Parish Activies

Mothers Union
The AIM of the Mothers Union is the advancement of the Christian religion in the sphere of marriage and family life.

The Mothers Union is a world-wide society and its OBJECTS are: To uphold Christ’s teaching on the nature of marriage and to promote its wider understanding; To encourage parents to bring up their children in the faith and the life of the church; To maintain a world-wide fellowship of Christians united in prayer, worship and service; To promote conditions in society favourable to stable family life and the protection of children; To help those whose family life has met with adversity.

The PURPOSE of the Mothers Union is to be specially concerned with all that strengthens and preserves marriage and Christian family life. Membership is open to all those who have been baptised in the name of the Holy Trinity and intend to support and work for the Aim, Purpose and Objects of the society. Members are united in prayer and service to show forth the glory of God and to help forward the work of the church.

Membership is open to women and men, single or married.

There are two branches of the Mothers Union in the Parish of Llanrhos:

St Paul's Church
Enrolling Member: Mrs Alice Wild- 01492 583148
Meet at 2.30PM on the 2nd and 4th Mondays in the month.
Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month (September to May) at 2.30pm in the Church Hall.
Corporate Communion is held on the 1st Thursday of each month at 10.30am in St Paul’s Church.
The Mothers Union Prayer Group meets at 1.45pm on the 4th Monday of each month (September to May).

All Saints Church
Enrolling Member: Mrs Daphne Laight- 01492 584247
Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays in the month (September to May) at 2.30pm in the Schoolroom at Bethel Chapel, Overlea Ave., Deganwy.
Corporate Communion is held on the 1st Wednesday of each month in All Saints Church.

St David's Ladies Fellowship

Meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of each month (September to June) at 7.30pm in St David’s Church Hall, Penrhyn Bay.
Membership is open to all ladies from the Presbyterian Church, Penrhyn Bay and St David’s Church.

Parish Mens Group

Meetings are held on the 1st Thursday of each month. During the year visits are made to various places of interest. Evening meetings range from Crown Green Bowling, Skittles, Games Evenings to Social Occasions.
Membership is open to all gentlemen within the churches of the parish.

Parish Banner Group

Meetings are held every Tuesday (except August) between 2pm and 4pm in Llanrhos Schoolroom. Members must be capable “sewers”.
The group provide seasonal banners for each of the churches in the parish. Banners are loaned to other churches in the area if requested.
The group have undertaken other work – a wall hanging for the St David’s Hospice in Llandudno; an Altar Frontal for the Nave Altar in St Paul’s Church; a cope for St David’s Church.
Visitors are welcome to come along to meetings to see the work undertaken. It is advisable to arrange for such visits.

Youth Group

The Youth Group is for those young people who are conformed or who are preparing for confirmation. The group usually meets on the 1st Friday of each month for an activity.
Activities included in the programme – Ten Pin Bowling, visit to the Cinema or Theatre etc.
A visit to Alton Towers is made once a year in the summer months.

After School Club

An After School Club meets during term-time at Ysgol Bodafon from 3.45pm to 4.45pm.
Those wishing to attend should first register with the Parish Office (01492 541615), as there is a waiting list.

Sunday Schools

St Hilary's Parish Church
The Sunday School meets at 11am in the Schoolroom at Llanrhos during school term-time.
The children are divided into five classes according to age and ability.
On the 1st Sunday of each month at 11am a Family Service is held in St Hilary’s. On this Sunday there is no Sunday School, parents and children are asked to come along to the service.

This club meets every Monday from 3.45pm to 4.45pm and will be open to all children (not just those attending Ysgol Bodafon). The After School Club will eventually replace the Sunday School at St David’s.

Server's Guild

A group of young people who assist at the celebrations of Holy Eucharist in the four churches of the parish.

Parish Magazine

Five Hundred (500) copies of the Parish Magazine are distributed each month. The Magazine contains news for the whole parish and for the individual churches. Items for the Magazine should reach the Vicar no later than the first Tuesday of the previous month eg. January for February’s Edition, February for March’s Edition, etc.

The Magazine carries half-page adverts which cost the advertiser £50 per year and includes an annual subscription to the magazine. To advertise in the Magazine please contact the Magazine Treasurer.

Magazines can be obtained from each of the churches in the Parish at a cost of 40p each.

“PEW NEWS”

This is a weekly publication which is given out each Sunday in the churches. “Pew news” contains the notices for the week ahead together with the schedule of services for the following Sunday.

“Pew News” also contains the Sunday Readings for use at the Sunday Services.

Items for “Pew News” should reach the Vicar the previous Sunday.
